University of Massachusetts Bands Venues Stores Eat & Drink Around Town
Stores
Mystery Train Records
21 Main St.

Located on North Pleasant Street in downtown Amherst, Mystery Train Records is like a breath of fresh air for any music junkie. Hand-drawn labels mark stacks upon stacks of vinyl, video, tapes and CDs, and random assortments of paraphernalia like various copies of “Frampton Comes Alive!” line the walls. Bookshelves stand here and there, housing old, used and fairly obscure books. Mystery Train Records’ relative disorganization makes it hard to find something specific, but the shop is great for anyone just browsing for something new and unique. -- Stephanie McPherson

Turn it Up! Records
5 Pleasant St.

Less of a store and more of an open marketplace, Turn It Up! Records in Northampton is any music fanatic’s dream. Stocked with a wide selection of new and used music available in formats ranging from vinyl to digital downloads, as well as a friendly, knowledgeable staff, Turn It Up! is sure to have something to satisfy any musical taste.

Winner of numerous “Best of the Pioneer Valley” awards, Turn It Up! Records is one of the few remaining establishments that keeps the true essence of the locally run record shop alive and kicking. -- Brian Wood
