Indiana University Bands Venues Stores Eat & Drink Around Town
Eat & Drink
The Video Saloon
105 W. 7th St.
Monday - Friday: 5 p.m. - 3 a.m.
Saturday 7 p.m. - 3 a.m.

The Video Saloon sits atop Walnut Street closely guarded by the wisest bouncer in all the land, who can spot a fake ID from miles away. Billiards, darts and a Chuck E. Cheese-esque basketball game entertain “Vid”-goers every night of the week. The Vid is the destination of choice for frat boys and indie shoegazers alike, with hipster-approved Pabst Blue Ribbon always on tap. Oftentimes, you’ll find yourself bumping elbows with the band you just saw at the Bird.

With long last calls, five-dollar pitchers of PBR and Hoop Shot, the Vid continues to hold its own as a bastion of the Bloomington music scene. – Leah Linder

Nick’s English Hut
423 E. Kirkwood Ave
Monday - Thursday 11 a.m.–2 a.m.
Friday, Saturday 11 a.m.– 3 a.m.
Sunday Noon – Midnight

Nick’s English Hut is the quintessential Indiana University bar. It was recently renovated, but has been on Kirkwood Avenue for over 80 years, with cream and crimson IU gear hanging from every possible surface. Nick’s is a true Bloomington tradition for eating, watching the game and excessive drinking.

Home to Bloomington’s local drinking game “Sink the Biz,” as well as overflowing buckets of fries, Nick’s is everything a college bar should be. – Leah Linder

Runcible Spoon
412 E. 6th St.
Monday - Sunday 7 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Be transported to a European café of another era at the much-loved Runcible Spoon. The eclectic interior creates a warm atmosphere complemented by hot homemade soups and tasty fare for vegetarians and carnivores alike. Although an occasional venue for bluegrass and old-time music jam sessions, the Spoon does breakfast best: the gluttonous “weekend special” consists of eggs, toast, breakfast meats and pancakes or French toast.

And don’t leave without taking a pit stop to the bathroom, which has garnered the Travel Channel’s attention for featuring a 300-pound aquarium. – Leah Linder
