University of Iowa Bands Venues Stores Eat & Drink Around Town

Town profile video player

It’s Iowa, but we don’t grow corn in our backyards. Home to the University of Iowa, with its bulging music scene and aspiring artists, Iowa City holds more than stereotypical fruitful fields. Welcome.

Check out primo dive bar The Picador for the likes of Murder by Death and Animal Collective, UI’s student union for Wilco and Andrew Bird, and step into places like The Yacht Club and The Mill for local bands galore. With the Mission Creek Music Festival (Cursive or Spoon, anyone?), warm-weather pedestrian-mall guitar pickers, and even the occasional shingle-shaking house party, this college town’s scene is one that we hope you remember (even when your brain tells you no). We’re cultivating awesomeness in Iowa City. Read on for all the tasty details.
