University of Nebraska, Lincoln Bands Venues Stores Eat & Drink Around Town
Around Town
Downtown O Street

When the Nebraska Cornhusker football team hosts a home game at Memorial Stadium, downtown O Street becomes a spectrum of mayhem. As the stadium becomes the third largest city in Nebraska with 85,000 rabid fans rooting for another home team victory, the O Street corridor, a mere three blocks from the University of Nebraska campus, becomes filled with students and tourists alike. Most of Lincoln's bars, music venues and restaurants are situated either in the Haymarket or on O Street between 9th and 17th streets, creating a huge mass of humanity most weekends and definitely on game days.

Lincoln Calling

Entering its fifth year, Lincoln Calling is an annual event held in the fall. The festival is designed to increase awareness of bands from Lincoln and Omaha, as well as expose these acts to groups outside the area in hopes of future touring possibilities. Each year around 40 bands take part in the fest, with notable past performances coming from bands like Tilly and the Wall, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, the Legendary Shack Shakers and Head of Femur. Lincoln Calling gives those who don’t venture to local shows very often the chance to sample a huge number of acts all within a three-day period. -- Jeremy Buckley
