The University of Wisconsin Bands Venues Stores Eat & Drink Around Town
Eat & Drink
State Street Brats
603 State Street
Monday - Sunday 11 a.m. -9 p.m.

If you're looking for a place a little different than typical sports bars, look no further than State Street Brats located on Madison's historic State Street. The sports bar and restaurant is hard to miss despite its near-campus location. It has a large amount of space inside on two floors and an outdoor patio; during Badger and Packer games, both of these are standing-room-only. It’s a popular spot for good food on the cheap: Although the seven different brat entrees are its top selling points, the restaurant also serves burgers, cheese curds and healthier items such as grilled chicken sandwiches, salads, quesadillas and the classic club. -- Caissa Casarez

Mickies Dairy Bar
1511 Monroe St.

If you’re looking for a good place to refuel the morning after a night of partying ‘til dawn or a meal you can drink on the morning of a home game, Mickies Dairy Bar has you covered. Located right across from Badgers Stadium, Mickies has been a fixture on the University of Wisconsin campus since it opened in 1946. Mickies offers a plethora of artery-clogging delights: massive pancakes, shakes that come in metal mixing cups and the famous scrambler -- a mixture of scrambled eggs, cheese and meat served over home fries. Typical meals costs around five bucks, but be sure to pack cash -- no cards or checks accepted here. -- Francesca Brumm
