The Big Bang
411 Broadway, Suite 201 Sunday - Thursday 7 p.m. - 3 a.m. Friday - Saturday 5 p.m. - 3 a.m.
Over 21? Venture away from your usual nighttime hangout, the bar "where everyone knows your name," and check out The Big Bang, Nashville's only dueling piano bar. Part music lounge, part bar, part comedy club, The Big Bang's entertainers will serenade you the songs you want to hear -- submit requests on paper napkins with a tip and you’ll hear the pianists' "specialized" version of your song (45 bucks once got some very enthusiastic Buckeye fans the Ohio State fight song ... three times). The bottom line? Drinks are cheap (plus, on Thursdays there is no cover), the music is great and you're sure to be laughing and singing along all night. -- Darcy Newell
Loveless Café
8400 Highway 100 Monday - Sunday 7a.m. - 9 p.m.
This little Nashville treasure rests on Highway 100 at the northern end of Natchez Trace, and although its appearance may seem unassuming and a bit plain, its rich history and legendary Southern cooking should put it at the top of your to-do list. You may be familiar with its commercialized cousin, Cracker Barrel, but rest assured Loveless is true blue Southern as it "smacks of nostalgia for a bygone era." The "Meat and Three" is the classic choice, as is the barbecue. But whatever you do, make sure you try the biscuits (pretty sure they're handmade by God). -- Chris Gearing
Café Coco
210 Louise Ave. Open 24 Hours
It’s Saturday night, and you’ve been out around Nashville enjoying the bright lights and honkey-tonks on Broadway. Above you the moon shines brightly and the stars dance softly on the blanket of night sky. But all this is meaningless because you’re distracted by that rumbling in your stomach and nothing is open this late at night. But wait! Off a small side street there is a place: Café Coco. This 24-hour café offers food, coffee and live music. Originally a house, the small and eclectic venue creates an intimate atmosphere, perfect for people-watching, chatting over coffee with old friends or meeting new ones at the table next to you. So whether you’re craving coffee, a late-night snack or cool new music, Café Coco is the place to go. -- Tawney Milam
Sambuca
601 12th Ave S Sunday 6 p.m..-.10 p.m. Monday - Wednesday 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. Thursday 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., 6 p.m. - 11 p.m. Friday 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., 6 p.m. - 12 a.m. Saturday 6 p.m. - 12 a.m.
From the sultry, easy-listening music echoing in the background to the plush, dimly lit interior and rich entrees, Sambuca oozes luxury. Located on 12th Avenue in Nashville’s trendy Gulch area, Sambuca offers a sophisticated, metropolitan atmosphere in a modern club setting.
A chic after-work watering hole frequented by Nashville’s urban elite, the restaurant attracts a well-heeled twenty- and thirty- something business crowd that comes for relaxation and networking accompanied by delicious food and luxurious music.
A typical entree, zebra pasta, is loaded with rich seafood in a thick lobster cream sauce. Light fare is not an option at Sambuca — arrive expecting an opulent experience in setting, music and food. -- Avery Spofford
